How Electricity Generators Work

Conventional generators use electromagnetic induction to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. The mechanical input may come from an engine, turbine, hand crank, wind rotor or other source.

Generators convert energy

Voltage alone is not enough to establish useful power. Current, load behavior, waveform and duration matter too.

What to ask next

What is the claimed energy source? Where is the system boundary? What has actually been measured? Can an independent investigator reproduce the result? Those questions prevent terminology from substituting for evidence.

For the product-specific application of these ideas, see our Moray Generator review.

This publication explains concepts; it is not a substitute for qualified electrical advice. Do not connect experimental equipment to household mains wiring or utility systems without appropriate professional expertise and approvals.
